Integration gear for Mobile POS machine
Integration gear for Mobile POS machine
In light of modern payment technology, minds have started to use electronic payment systems and plastic money for purchasing transactions to ease the cash crisis. The small merchants, even the street vendors are now racing to install the point of sale (POS) machines at their outlets. Traditional POS terminal machines are integrated with Wi-Fi portable devices provides customer better service but at times face connectivity issues and are large and heavy machines. Traditional POS machines are not feasible to use at location and scenarios like street vendors, outdoor fairs/event, and for home delivery boys.
Mobile POS enabled with EMV device provides end to end solutions without affecting the network connectivity. To carry out the payment transaction the EMV device is connected with mobile through Bluetooth or data connectivity. The payment transaction is done either by swiping or inserting the card in the card slot. Customer gets notified with digital receipt after entering the pin stating payment transaction was successful.
While performing the transactions both mobile and POS act as standalone gadgets making it a juggling task and performing single hand operation becomes difficult. The client requirement was to integrate both the devices into single unit so the entire payment apparatus set becomes handy and can be easily portable. ILenSys’s scope was to come up with an innovative solution for the client’s requirement.
Our industrial design team started the project with usability study of the current devices. With the information gathered the team further did the conceptualization of the integrated gear. Here one of the major design criteria was to build the integrated gear with no change in the existing electronic devices. To meet this requirement iLenSys developed a highly complex plastic component with ten functional undercuts. The specialty ABS material was selected to allow the right flexibility for the snaps to function perfectly. Upon acceptance on the design from the client, injection mold was designed with ten working mechanism to eject the part out of the mold.
The product was launched in the market and used by the banks like HDFC for their MPOS devices. Later for the impact protection the soft cover of polyurethane material was also developed for the integrated gear.
Overall integrating these devices together was the seamless experience.
